It is high time that we give our mountains and forests the attention they deserve. Protection, security and well-being in free nature are not infinite goods of our time.
In the forest, other time dimensions prevail. It takes decades for a sapling to grow into a stately tree that provides shelter and a livelihood for countless animals and microorganisms. In contrast, the lifetime of a human being seems to be completely insignificant. And yet it is in our power to decisively shape the forest.
The Pignaverde Foundation is a generational project. It raises awareness of the environmental problems in our mountain region and promotes solutions.
The mountain forest protects against rockfall, avalanches, landslides, floods and provides clean drinking water. These are essential services on which all of us who live and work in mountain regions depend.
For this very reason, the sustainable use of the resource «forest» in the Grisons mountains is more important than ever, especially due to the unstoppable climate changes. We take responsibility and advocate for concrete actions and solutions on the ground. This is the goal of the Pignaverde Foundation.
In cooperation with the surrounding forestry offices, we launch projects that enable us to improve the protection forests and preserve them for the future. We reforest, establish new climate-resistant protection forests, protect against browsing by game and raise awareness for the concerns of the mountain regions.
